The Ram Bowling teams bowled in the Huron Holiday Baker Tournament on Saturday, December 30th, over Christmas break at Flat Rock Lanes. During the 12 games of qualifying the girl’s team bowled the high score for the day (for both the girls and boys teams) of a 247! They were seeded 4th going into the match play. After beating Wyandotte (5th), they faced Airport, the 1st place seed for the entire day, F.R. girls bowled 187-160 to Airport’s 148-152 in the semi-finals. Then they faced Huron in the finals and bowled 180 for the first game +36 over the Chiefs (144) only to fall short in the second game 141-198.
Although they didn’t win the tournament, the girls team truly impressed and over-achieved for the day, showing the potential of some of the “new comers” who got to participate, since the team was missing a couple of “key” bowlers who were out of town due to vacations.
While the boys team didn’t do quite as well as the girls, they were in the same boat as the girls, missing a couple of “key” bowlers. The group of boys led by assistant coach, Tony Kmiotek, fought hard and did improve their scores as the day went on, bowling high games of 183 and 182. Unfortunately, the boys did not advance to match play and their day ending early.
